Today, I was able to create a new Battle.net account for a relative and attach to it his vanilla+bc+wotlk keys. It worked without any mishap.

You missing the point, he wasnt talking about issue of Bnet not accepting the keys he was talking about 200 more ppl bashing the site trying to get they keys to work. And ofc 200 more ppl is a grain of sand of those that going to be bashing the site at 27th.
Iam sure SC2 keys auth system is in place and well tested for the 27th, else would had been a disaster.
