They aren't dumb. They know they need testers. They also have the new battle net to get ironed out first with the launch of Starcraft 2 just days away they have to get that up and running before they can dedicate the time to repair the small number of beta keys that aren't working.

Considering SC2 was in beta until a week ago and it had the whole BNet2.0 functionality all the time, it'd be more than surprising if they hadn't finished the preparations for the SC2 launch yet, so unless similar bugs affecting the SC2 release have just appeared it'd be a good time to fix the whole BNet site now and not after the release when any BNet downtimes may cause a lot of damage.
And if they really didn't want to mess with the BNet site, they would've likely just told the site admins to send them the BNet E-Mails so they can unlock the players manually instead of saying we should keep the keys.
