Which skin in particular did you download ?
Did you extract the zip file to a separate folder ?
If you open that folder you should see another folder. It is that folder that you need to copy into your World of Warcraft / Interface / AddOns folder.
It is the same process as if it was a normal addon except it only contains new skin files and a simple file to override the default skin settings.
