I find it hard to believe that Blizzard would introduce speed variance on fixed flight paths like you're suggesting.
Have you actually verified this or is this a conclusion based on your observations of how fast it
feels? I hear people comment on how some mounts feel slower or faster relative to other mounts all the time, but this isn't actually the case. How fast something feels is an imprecise method of measurement.
