Personally I prefer OOP when it comes to coding anything, however I seem to write my mods in procedural. I have been meaning to pickup OOP in LUA and port my mods but haven't had the time since I had to drop wow.
Anyway, enough about me and onto a point. While I guess that most people who are writing mods will have some sort of programming background, some may not and hence not understand OOP. Perhaps that is why some people opt for procedural?
