I was under the impression that was Activision, not Blizzard -- that is to say, it includes the whole company. And it's normal to have higher expenses and lower revenues during the lead-up to the "holiday" season, which is when a lot of the sales happen.
My guess would be that a database fixup had unintended consequences. You know, like the thing where on some servers everyone of the same class as the person who opened the AQ gates could suddenly speak Titan.
