First of all... I'm the last person in the world to whine about a wall of text. Like you, I'm likely to write a wall of text explaining that I write walls of text ~lol~

That said, I'll try and be short and sweet with my responses so we don't end up with two walls in the same thread.

This will never happen. While I totally understand where you're coming from, there's a couple of reasons why I won't recreate DBM in nUI. First, and most important, is that I actively work at avoiding including databases in nUI... those are always the thing that is hardest to maintain and first to break on patch day. Ultimately, maintaining a database in a mod is what usually leads to the mod being abandoned over time. The second reason it's not likely to happen is that DBM is a functional addon, not a UI addon which is what nUI is trying to limit itself to (for the most part).

Having said that... I do anticipate adding integration to DBM that would set up default locations for the bars, etc, the DBM offers in places that are compatible with nUI while still allowing users to customize that. I don't know when that will happen though.

CowTip
It is my sincere hope, in due time, to eliminate the need for tooltip addons in nUI. I don't know if I'll achieve that goal, but it is on my to-do list. It won't happen until nUI6 to be sure and not immediately then, either. In any event, tooltips are a part of the UI and that is something nUI should manage with more elegance in the future.

EquipCompare and RatingBuster
This one falls a bit into a gray area. For the most part it is functional versus UI and to some extent depends a bit on databases. However, some of the basic equipment compare stuff I would consider UI and want to enhance. For now, you can do equipment compares without an addon -- just press "shift" while mousing over the item you want to compare to the one you're using.

GearScore
This one I can say with absolute certainty will never be a built in part of nUI. You cite many of the reasons. It is also a highly controversial mod among many players (though I confess I use it myself). That said, it is a seamless integration and requires no special consideration to use with nUI. So, in my view, if it already does its job so well, I can't see the point in trying to replace it (kind of like it being pointless to replace Auctioneer).

Carbonite
Yeah... this is one where I can say I would never consider doing everything Carbonite does, but there are pieces parts of it I do want to include in nUI. One big goal for nUI6 is a real map in the info panel... zoomable and scrollable, with quests, party members, etc. etc. etc. Some other things I would like to incorporate as well. MozzFullWorldMap will become a built in feature of nUI6 for starters. I also want to integrate some form of gathering feature since I can do that without a database... don't know what or how yet. All "down the road" stuff though.

the gui
You might want to chat up the author of the GUI. There's a couple of them that are very good. That said, nUI6 will have one of the most mind-blowing mod GUI's in it you've seen yet. Trust me on that one.... it's why nUI6 is taking so long to write.

the infopanel
nUI6 will have two info panels by default and I'm considering allowing layout artists to create additional panels. You'll have the option, in-game, of choosing which info panel plugins are enabled and which info panel they appear in as well as what order they appear in the rotation.

As for at present, the only way to enable or disable built-in info panels is to do as you're doing (actually, you can just set the "enabled = true" to "enabled = false" rather than delete it). For optional info panel plugins that you have downloaded, you can enable or disable those on a per character basis via the "AddOns" button at the character selection screen.

More Chat panels
I have long intended to include something like WIM in nUI... it will happen eventually.
