Help with dropdown menus and submenus

PLEASE HELP!

I need help understanding what's required to make submenus work correctly in dropdown menus. I can easily make a one-level menu, but based on the WOWWiki info, it looks like I need to do things differently for a menu with submenus. In their description, they no longer make the menu frame in the XML code, but create it dynamically in the LUA code. Is this the only way it can be done? If so, I need help making it work. If not, please explain what is need in both the XML and LUA code to make it work.

Please help, I have been struggling with this for days. I am an experienced programmer, but for some reason just can't seem to figure this out.

Actually... i finally got it working.
