multiple addons blocking chat?

I had a problem over the last couple of days with something blocking all chat channels.

After a lot of futzing around, I identified Cartographer as the problem, and as long as I have it disabled I can see /1,/2,/g etc.

The moment I enable it I can't see any of them.

Further to that, I noticed a post on the wow-forums:

and there is a similar one on this forum from another user with the same problem.

Is anyone else experiencing addons hiding chat?

I was surprised when I identified Cartographer as the problem, that it wasn't something related to the chat frames like pratt or chatter.

Anyone know why this is happening?

SpamMeNot also blocks all your chat.
Chat windows show up just fine and start addon messages and server notices but every other kind of chat and anything else does not show up.
