How do you take off addons?

I have a ton of outdated addons that I don't use and would like to take them off. Is there a way to do that?

Goto the WoW addon directory and delete the addon folder.

Thanks but I already tried that. It still left the addon in my addons list on the game itself.

If you're using Vista, then you were prompted to move the game out of Program files with the 3.0 patch. It's now at C:\Users\Public\Games or somesuch.
