Awesome Idea, But Need Help Bringing It to Life

While mining today I was getting slightly annoyed at the TomTom arrow pointing the opposite way of the direction I was farming/traveling. It was
showing QuestHelper destinations, which really isn't a problem at all.
But anyways it gave me an idea, what if there was an addon that could make that arrow point the correct direction? Possibly by detecting a few close nodes that have been recorded in Gatherer and then find one that's in the direction you are currently traveling and output it's coords as a TomTom waypoint.
Now I would love to take on the addon myself but I am a complete noob at LUA, so a few pointers as to how i could go about doing this would be awesome if this kind of addon would even be possible

Yeah that's sorta what I was looking for maybe. Maybe if it had Gatherer and TomTom support

Under "Features", it says:

Cartographer_Waypoints and TomTom support for quickly following a route

I assumed that meant it used waypoints/arrows to point to possible nodes.

Yeah I just saw that and it does in fact work with Gatherer I believe, so this is almost exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much for the help.

It works better with GatherMate - Gatherer doesn't have callbacks implemented.

Is there anything like WowheadDB for Gathermate? That's really the only thing holding me back from switching
