The mmoui minion didn't, but since that's mostly gone the way of the dodo it's not a big issue.

The fact remains that while .rar is a superior compression format, most windows users can't readily extract it.

Actually, we changed our policy a while back. We ask that authors only use .zip for their compression format now.

Thanks for clarifying the policy on .zip. There were a few addons that used the .rar format a while back. Consistency is good.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback and for trying out the code. I really appreciate it. I just wanted to post and say if anyone is still interested in this, I didn't give up, still working on the next update in the background but work and family doesn't leave me much spare time. The major feature for the next update is a web service that will tell you if an addon is out-of-date or if there is an update available.

Wootbit Client 0.2 beta is out on the web today. I incorporated a lot of the feedback from this forum thread. I'll start a new thread to discuss the new features in the release.
