fishing buddy problem

Real simple issue, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. From what I understand, when you start fishing a little grapic is supposed to pop up on your screen and keep tally of fish you have caught during that session, and also a chat message comes thru that tells you a new type of fish has been added to Fishing Buddy from that location. Sometimes it doesn't work at all. Any ideas?
