Tried everything: Addon button not showing :(

Hello,

First of all, I am sorry for asking this ridiculously stupid question which has probably been tackled many times on this forum. I would like to assure You that I have been browsing it for a while now (as well as the official WoW forum) and I could not find any satisfactory answer.

Essentially, I am unable to find the 'Addons' button on the character selection screen. Now, this might seem like a trivial problem at first but it persisted despite the infamous WTF/WDB/Interface annihilation combo. Moreover, it still was not there even after re-installing WoW (Mind You, this was not a complete reinstallation as many elements could not be removed due to some system errors. Yes, I am a PC noob.)

Finally, I did make sure that I downloaded all the addons properly and unpacked them in the right folder (addons). I had never had similar problems and I played WoW for 1,5 years before I took 1 year off.

Thank You very much in advance. There is no way I could play without such essentials as the cartographer or the gatherer.

It's in the bottem left hand corner of the screen at the character selection area.


Note: this button will ONLY appear if you have properly installed the addons.

To make sure that the addons are installed right, make sure that you have your addons in the #Program Files#\World Of Warcraft\Interface\Addons\ folder

Also make sure that you don't have folder-in-folder syndrome. ie, Interface\AddOns\*addon name v.12234*\*addon name*

To ensure this, select "Extract Here" from the right-click menu of your zip file instead of "Extract to *name of zip file*"

Any chance you now have two installations of WoW and are putting them in the wrong one?

Hey everyone,

Thank You very much for these swift responses. Yes Dreadlorde, I did read the FAQ. Even more than once actually, that is why I felt so embarrased upon posting my question.

Long story short, I've finally 'made' the buton come up again, even though I have no idea how ^.- I used to have loads of addons in my Interface\AddOns folder. Then I deleted them all and as the last act of desparation I installed The Gatherer from Your site. Only this time, I completely ripped the folder open upon unzipping it. It worked like a charm If I have to keep installing my AddOns like this it will create a real mess very soon but at least i can install them now.

Once again, thanks a lot for the replies. It is good to know that there is a relaible forum where a noob can get some help <3

Oh, as a side note, that newest gatherer is incompatible according to my UI :>

Yeah..I can't get that thing to work..at all..so I got rid of it and just update my toons manually.

you need to take a screen shot and crop it to only show your toon.
