fubar plugin? help?

Hi, I have an idea for a mod and I am not sure how to write it...

1st let me be clear I am not asking for someone to write it for me, but I know I am going to need help with the code from time to time.

On to the question... I would like to write a fubar plugin that does the same thing as the voice chat icon on the minimap (allows access to the voicechat options frame, as well as channel selection), also I would like to be able to display who is talking as an option. ie. "show text" would show who is talking.

Can someone direct me to a solid tutorial on how to write a fubar plugin?
