Problem in Naxx

Hi,

I was recently in naxx on a 10 man raid when I had a problem. . .

(Sorry I don't know the name of the boss, but hopefully this description will be adequate)

Basically the fight involves going down a ramp and clicking one of two crystals. Then you become one of the two warrior looking guys next to the boss and pass tanking responsibility back and forth.

Apparently there is supposed to be a way to dismiss your "pet" and go back to the crystal and reacquire it. Above the pet bar, there was a box, but it was empty with no buttons in it whatsoever although from the size I'd surmise there were supposed to be two. One of the non-visible buttons said "cancel" when hovering over it, but the other one had no tool tip. Perhaps that was the dismiss button?

Anyone ever heard of this problem?

I have seen this happen a time or two and I do know that the root cause is combat taint, but I have yet to have found a consistent way to reproduce it or a fix.

However, the problem is actually just limited to failure to display the texture and the button itself does work. Left-clicking the "cancel" button (which is always the right-hand button of the two) will accomplish the task you're after in that event.

That is the Instructor Razzuvious boss. That problem exists sometimes for non nUI users. I have found that a macro to dismiss the pet works fine.

/script PetDismiss()

I believe is what I use.

I did try clicking the invisible buttons, but they didn't work. In fact, I tried several times first slowly and then repeatedly as it was becoming clear this was going to wipe us.

I'll give the macro a try.

Even better is to take a look at the strategy pages for it on the wowwiki website. All the macros listed there for priests I use including the petdismiss one. Works wonders for me when priest tanking and my fiance uses it when he tanked the 10 man one on his pally.
