What does your install path look like? Is it
C:/Program Files/WoW/Interface/Addons/SomeAddon/Some Files

or

C:/Program Files/WoW/Interface/Addons/SomeAddon/Some Other Folder/Some Files

If its the latter, then you need the move all the "Some Files" in the SomeAddon Folder. For example, if your path for CTRA is the following

C:/Program Files/WoW/Interface/Addons/CTRA/Some Other Folder/Some Files

you want it to end up like this:

C:/Program Files/WoW/Interface/Addons/CTRA/Some Files

I've got the same problem ... my "Addons" button doesn't show up either.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

My reply works for you too. make sure you have a valid install path. A valid install path is one that looks like this:

C:/Program Files/WoW/Interface/Addons/SomeAddon/SomeFiles

My install path is exactly as you've outlined below i.e.
C:/Program Files/WoW/Interface/Addons/SomeAddon/SomeFiles

Any thoughts from here??

What are those files? Do you have a .toc file? What addon/addons are you trying to install? Are you sure there isn't another folder in your "SomeAddon" folder?

What version of Windows are you using?
WOW will not show the "AddOn" Button if it does not see any valid addon's.

Also did you check out the FAQ listed in the other post?

Please keep in mind im going to try and explain this as simply as is possible. I'm not at your computer with you nor do I know what your level of skill with a computer is. So please take time to read the following carefully and post back with any specific questions you might have.

Lets take the addon bartender4 for our example. Lets assume you have your world of warcraft installed on the C: drive in the programs folder.

The install path for addons would then be as follows:

C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/interface/addons/bartender4

If you were to open the bartender4 folder you should see a file called bartender4.toc. If you open the bartender4 folder and there is another folder labeled bartender4 inside but no visible .toc file then your addons aren't installed correctly.

There are a few exceptions for this primarily due to your operating system.
In windows vista and windows 7 the location should be C:/users/public/games/world of warcraft/interface/addons/bartender4 with the bartender4.toc file still located directly inside the bartender folder.

The 'some addons' and 'some files' are just generic terms. For each addon you have installed there will be a folder like the bartender4 one in my example.

Ive attached a screen shot that follows the windows 7 example. It shows the install path for windows 7 on the left and the contents of the bartender4 folder on the right.

Hope that clarifies things.

another question...

Within some of the folders, there are multiple folders containing different data. For instance, if you open the AtlasLoot folder after downloading, it contains the folders atlasloot, atlasloot_burningcrusade, atlasloot_crafting, atlasloot_originalwow, atlasloot_worldevents, atlasloot_wrathofthelichking, and atlaslootfu. Five of the seven contain a .lua file of the same name, and the subfolder atlasloot then has 10 additional subfolders. What the hell am I supposed to do with this???

You need to place each of those folders as if they were a separate addon. All the Atlas creator has done is split up their addon into smaller addons that are dealt with separately but you can download them altogether.

EG.

Interface
|__Addons
.....|__ Atlas
.....|__ Atlas_Battlegrounds
.....|__ Atlas_etc

In addition to the previous answer: If you open the "subfolders" and you find a .toc file inside that folder, then that is your clue that the folder needs to be located directly in the AddOns just like a "normal" AddOn.
