how do i update without losing all my current data?

ive seen other threads about it but i just dont get it.... if i jsut download the new rar file and extract it into addons.... and clicked yes to all changes...wouldnt it over write my settings and quests ive completed by overwriting my data with its blank slate?

i really dont wanna lose anything

The saved data for an addon is stored in the WTF folder. The code that makes the addon work is in the AddOns folder. Unzipping to your AddOns folder should have no effect on your current settings as they are stored elsewhere.
