Newbie: Find name of gameframes?

Hello, as you can see I'm new at this, so please redirect me if I'm in the wrong place.

I have been looking around at wowwiki to find a way to find the names of gameframes ie. the minimap. Is there just a list of these frames or how did the first addon scripters find the names?
