Mozilla Firefox problem.

Hello everyone. I'm having little problems with Firefox.. Well, not so little: I can't connect to net with it but I can with everything else. I have allowed firefox in my firewall (comodo) and it's probably allowed in my router firewall too.

So, the thing happened today when I was playing WoW. I was messing with firefox and an addon SwitchProxy at the same time. I tried few proxies but they didn't work, so I switched it off (disabled the proxy, not the whole addon) and wen't to play WoW again.
After few minutes I tried to go to wowwiki to look for macro help and it didn't connect. I tried re-opening Firefox but it didn't help.
Then I thought that maybe I'm trying to somehow connect through proxy and disabled (even deleted) SwitchProxy but it didn't help.´
I tried re-installing Firefox.. I think you can quess if it helped..

Now I can't connect to net with firefox but can with everything else.. (Using IE atm.) I scanned my computer with Nod32 and Spybot S&D but they didn't find anything.
So now I don't know what to do.. Does anyone even have a clue what might be causing this?

PS. I don't think this is anyway related to firefox, but I can't enable Windows Automatic Updates. I have started the needed services (I think) but the updater thing isn't doing anything else than yelling that my Automatic Updates isn't on..

Thank you for your help in advance! I hope someone knows how to fix this.

Try to ping and/or tracert to a known, working address (like yahoo.com or cnn.com, google.com). That will at least establish if your entire TCP/IP stack is screwed or if it's just something with a browser or windoze.

Did you fix yourself up with that latest and greatest patch from MS concerning the IE mess? You don't need to use IE to be vulnerable to it...

Well that seems pointless to me as he already stated he can access the web just fine with everything but Firefox, and that this started when he had an addon. So pinging won't do anything, as the connection is fine. (How else would he be able to come post here about the problem on IE? :P)

I have no idea what may be causing this though, I have no idea about proxies either, since I've never used one :]

This is probably because most Firefox addon settings are not removed when you remove the addon. Here's what I would do:

Navigate to "C:\Documents and Settings\<your Windows name>\Application Data" and all folders with "Mozilla" in the name. This will revert all Firefox settings to default and should fix your problem.

I assume you use Windows XP. The file path in Windows Vista will be different. I think it's "C:\Users\<name>\AppData" but I haven't dared install that tripe so I may be wrong.

The easiest way to get there is to just go to %APPDATA%

This is an environment variable that Explorer understands and will resolve to the correct directory. This not only protects against OS-specific behavior, but also unconventional configurations.
