GameStop cancelling some pre-orders!

So, I pre-ordered WotLK on the day it became available for pre-order, because I've always wanted a collector's edition, and never been able to get one.

GameStop cancelled the order, and didn't tell me. Why? Because their "credit card verification system" decided that my email address was in some way suspiciously similar to a pattern they associate with fraud. So they cancelled the order without notification because they thought it was fraudulent. (Note that I've previously ordered from them using the same address, card, and everything.)

So.

1. If you have a GameStop pre-order, call them and verify it.
2. If you know of any way I can get a CE, please let me know. Most places have been sold out of pre-orders for ages, although Target claims to have them -- but given their track record, I don't honestly expect it to succeed.

Did you call and attempt to get your pre-order reinstated?

Yes.

There is no way to "reinstate" an order. I can place a new order, but of course, they are long since sold out of CE. They won't reveal anything about how my address looked suspicious, because they claim not to know, but they trust it more than they trust me. (Never mind that I've been buying from them online since 2001.)

So, basically, they won't reinstate it, they can't, they can't tell me what's wrong, and they can't tell me an address I could use to place an order that they wouldn't cancel. Because that might enable fraud.

Obviously, they have to protect their customers from fraud. Just as obviously, people whose email addresses are "suspicious" are not their customers. We can't be, as we can't place orders.

I recorded the call, in case I ever want a copy.
