Newb Needs Help

Hello. I am wanting to start dabbling in creating my own UI. I have never coded anything before, and am wondering where a good place to start might be. Basically, I need something that will help me learn the ins and out's of LUA and XML. Any suggestions?

Between that, and either writing something as a test (eg: the hello world idea) or opening up someone else's addon and learning by tweaking would be my suggestion.

If you get any specific questions, come to the forums with them, and I'm sure one of the code junkies might lend a hand.
