PickupCompanion and GetCursorInfo

Is there any way to get the 'companion spell' that is currently attached to the cursor?

GetCursorInfo returns "spell", 0, "spell" when I call it with my mount dragged off of the Blizzard action bars on the cursor.

Is there any way to get this info, or is it an oversight on Blizzard's part? How do the existing ActionBar mods deal with this issue?

If anyone has any clues I'll be grateful!
