An addon in the making(hopefully)

I am a noob mod author, and i want to write an addon that will tell rogues when to reapply poisons. I can get the .toc file, but i need help with the .lua and the .xml files. Any help that anyone can offer me would be AMAZINGLY appreciated, as i have an immense craving for beta.
