If you are on a Vista machine, you should probably be installing nUI into c:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns -- if you're on any other Windows version, it should be in c:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons -- I have no idea where it goes on a Mac ~lol~

When you log in to WoW and are at the character selection screen, click the "AddOns" button and look at the list of installed addons... is nUI in the list and is it enabled. If it is not in the list, then it is not properly installed. If it is in the list, make sure it is enabled.

Also, Windows 7 reacts the same way when you install either the Burning Crusade or Lich King Expansions.

It will ask you if you want to move the files to Users/Public/Games/World of Warcraft. If you say yes it doesn't actually move them but makes a copy. So after the install you end up having 2 copies of wow. The one without the expansion and the one with the expansion.

What is most likely happening is that you have an icon on your desktop running from the new copy in user/public/games but not realising you did that months down the line you have copied the file into the directory you originally installed in like C:\Games\WoW etc.

Did you check off the option "load out of date addons" on the character select screen?

Also, what version did you install?

what exactly did you move from the desktop.

When you download the addon it will be a compressed file which, whilst it can open within windows as if it was a normal folder, inside games and other programs it will not be treated similarly.

When you extract the compressed file it should then create a new folder with a similar name. That is still not the folder you should put in the addon folder.

Open up this new folder and you should then see a folder with just the name nUI. That is the ones you should put in the addon folder.

So, when looking at your folder list you should see the following:

World of Warcraft
Interface
Addons
nUI

and in that nUI folder you should see amongst some more folders a file called nUI.toc

If you see that then you have it installed right and it should appear in your addon list in the bottom left hand corner of your character selection screen.

Would you mind posting the full path to "nUI.toc"?

It should look like this on your computer with Vista: c:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\nUI\nUI.toc

Aha, it is as I thought.

You have copied the extracted folder and not the folder within the extracted folder.

If you go into nUI_5.04.00 you will see one called nUI. That is what has to go in the Addons folder.

What is the error message that you're getting?

Do you have any other mods installed?

Aidely...

Try logging in, then press "escape" and select the "interface" option, then "objectives" and turn advanced objective tracking off. Close the open windows and do a '/nui rl' -- does it load?

After you do that, bring the objectives options up again and turn advanced tracking back on, close all the windows again and do a '/nui rl' again. Does it still load?

KK..I do not get an error message after reloading but the action bars and txt is soo small I now have a headache. Is this part of the error or is it just something i need to reconfigure somehow?

Can you post a screen shot so I can see what you have?

Just use the "manage attachments" button on the message editor page when you reply to this message.

~lol~

It's okay... just press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard after you log in. Then look in your [ World of Warcraft > Screenshots ] directory and you'll find it there... that will be in [ C: > Program Files > World of Warcraft ] or [ C: > Users > Public > Games > World of Warcraft ]

(unless you're one of those hip cool Mac people)

If you are on Windows, press the "print screen" button on your keyboard. WoW will automagically save an image of whatever is shown in WOW at that second and place a copy of it in your WoW directory under the Screenshot folder name
