unexplored areas not changing color

i thought that before when i had carbonite quest it was able to change the unexplored areas color. is it the same cause i tried to change and i cant find it on options can someone give me a step by step thanks amoraa

Unexplored areas are not darkened for me either.

I have transparency set all the way to the left. I have the "Show" -> "Show Unexplored Areas" box unchecked.

I believe for the unexplored areas to be displayed, that box needs to be checked.
