Not having been formally educated on something doesn't make your opinion wrong. For that matter, having been formally educated doesn't make your opinion right either.

If you want to discuss something on the merits or think I'm wrong by all means point it out.

It's like common sense and logic went out the window. I don't understand how any programmer could be in favor of a Policy that attempts to (seemingly) undermine the right of an author to distribute their work how they please. Unless of coarse they already have no rights to their work due to a contract between them and their employer. There is no 'contract of services' or anything of the like that an author signs into with Blizzard.

At least Shefki is putting logic on the table, instead of pointing at someone's formal education (or lack thereof) in a field that is usually biased (like the idiot Glider lawyer comparisons, anyone). Just saying.

It sure would be nice if people were just "putting logic on the table," but that's not all that was going on. I found the tone taken pretty rude and dismissive... that doesn't mean that I agree with all (or even most?) of what Galactica posted. If one would just state one's opinion, fine, if they build a logical case, even better, but I don't feel that's not what was going on. Don't act like an authority when you aren't one; that's all I was saying. It's not ad hominem. I mean, you say:

How do you know that? I've seen enough of how business and the law intersect to see some correlation there, though not to the degree some indicated.

I very specifically reminded everyone of the site rules and warned to obey them, in the very first post of the thread, right at the top of it, in bright colours, so that no one missed it. If people don't cut it out with making it personal, there are going to be vacations from the site.
