Quest tracking

Hey there, I have seen a topic about this, but my issue is a little bit different. The previous poster could track 1 quest only, well, i can track none : /

Ofc i created fresh WTF and Interface folders, installed nUI only and entered game, tried to track quest/achievement, but got info "You don't have space to track any more, stop tracking one first"

Tried with both nUI and nUI+, no difference

Would really appreciate if u could have a look into this, i love nUI and also i love to see how im doing with some crap qs/achievements :P

That is probably the same reasoning. If the window has somehow been resized or a quest has automatically been set to auto track it could be the same thing happening.

Did you try the steps detailed out to fix the problem you found ? If that doesn't solve your problem we can go check other stuff.

I have read http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ht=quest+track which didnt really help

Now i have found this: http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ht=quest+track
but i have a small problem with that, I enabled mouseover, but I have a problem with mouseovering the tracker. Im moving the cursor around the screen, but nothing popped up

I tried disabling nUI and tracking then, but it seems nUI resized it forever, cuz I cant track anymore, unless i delete interface/wtf folders

Hmm thats weird. I'll see if I can get the same thing happening on one of my toons somewhere. My regulards definitely all have it working fine once theyre resized which I do regularly when I need more quests to track.

Okay this is a new toon that I haven't played since like forever. Not even to do the first quest.

I have uploaded the images in turn and you can see that nUI is fresh and that she hadn't even did the first quest on creation. And the last image is the max amount of tracking I was able to do before the message appeared on her.

Next test: An old toon.

nUI doesn't resize it at all... it just intefered with being able to resize it.

If you press escape to bring up the system menu, select "Interface" then "Objectives" and turn advanced objectives tracking off entirely it will give you a popup to warn you all current settings will be lost... click okay... then turn advanced objectives tracking back on and make sure the "disable mouseover' is unchecked and close everything out. You should then be able to mouse over it... I believe you'll find it in the top-left corner of your display.

Yep, as Scott pointed out, those steps he mentioned will correct the problem of not seeing it.

On an old toon not played since well before 3.1 I had exactly the same problem with or without nUI being installed until I followed those steps and then I could resize and move the box as and how I wished.

I had the same problem....selected advanced...disables mouseover..closed out...nothing popped up....repeated....no change. Although I used Quest Guru with the Quest Guru Tracker. Could this add be messing with it?

If mouseover is *disabled* then nothing will pop up.... you need to uncheck the "disable mouseover" option before you'll be able to see the objectives window when you do mouse over it.

Once you have done that, you should see the window when you place your mouse in the upper left area of the screen (not in the corner, but the general area. Once you "see" the window. right click the title and select "unlock window" so you can resize it.

The next update will have another fix that completely gets nUI uninvolved in the watch frame.

If it matters any... this is a problem being seen with pretty much every mod that tries to do anything with the Bliz WatchFrame or quest tracking other than to hide it and replace it with another (like QH does)

the problem is that after enabling advanced quest tracking and unchecking "disable mouseover" i cant see the box

i think im gonna delete Interface/WTF, enter game, enable advanced tracking and then install nUI+, as I had it disabled b4 installing addon last time, hopefully itll solve the problem

here is screen of my UI:

As u can see "Disable mouseover" is unchecked and there is no objective box

Okay -- so when it is configured as you show it, and you move your mouse pointer all around the upper left quadrant of the display you never see the quest tracking window appear?

Okay -- so if you now uncheck the "advanced objectives" option and click "okay" do you get a dialog that warns you that will lose your settings for the advanced objectives tracking window? It should.

Once you've done that try a '/nui rl' then go back to settings and enable advanced objectives tracking again and click "okay" -- can you mouse over it now?

I was having the problem of blizzards quest showing up all the time. I did exactly what Spiel said to do and it didn't help....

Until I logged off and then logged back into Wow and then it started working.
So have you logged out and back in yet?
See if that helps.

What I meant to say way what Spiel said is right but I have to log off and then back in to get the Quest tracking to go away, since I use another quest tracking system.

Hey all,

Just been playing around with this and found the following seems to work to at least allow you to track 'something' if you're in the position I was in where I couldn't track anything at all and really didn't want to delete my WTF

Create a macro with the following:

/script WatchFrame:SetHeight(400)
/script WatchFrame:SetWidth(300)
/script WatchFrame_ClearDisplay()
/script WatchFrame_Update(WatchFrame)

(feel free to change values as required)

Drag it to your action bar and click it. You should now be able to use your favorite quest tracker again Recommend tomquest2 btw :P Hope this helps.

Lightbulb Tracking Issue

I haven't read all of the noted forum posts regarding this topic, but I thought I'd throw in here that I JUST downloaded nUI and am in the process of getting it set up the way I want (I used to have over 350 subfolders in my Addons directory :P ), and this issue is causing problems for several addons - it seems to be related to any addons that control the minimap (or at least that's what it seems to me). It may even be something the Blizzard needs to tweak still, but the only time I've been able to get tracking (either Quest OR Achievement) to work correctly 100% of the time is with NO addons enabled.

I personally used Quest Guru for my quest tracking, so I've never really used the Blizzard Quest Tracker. It wasn't until I decided to try to track one of the Childrens Week Achievements (prior to downloading/installing nUI) that I ran into this stupid Tracking issue. I used to be a PC tech, so I'm used to QC testing and troubleshooting computer issues, and my OCD compels me to continue to try to figure out why there are so many problems when a minimap handler addon is introduced.

If only I could get paid for all this testing I'm doing... LOL

Anyway, my point to this post is to say that this is not an nUI-specific issue - this is game-wide issue that seems to affect any addon that "handles" the minimap function.

I've just recently downloaded the latest Quest Guru and it seems to track both quests and achievements with no problems.

That looks to me like the code is before 5.03.02 because in that release I eliminated the management of the quest frames entirely if the watch frame exists. Also, the two lines

nUI_Movers:movableFrame( QuestFrame );
nUI_Movers:movableFrame( QuestLogFrame );

have nothing to do with the quest watch and probably do not need to be commented out. The QuestLogFrame is the one you open when you press "L" and is unrelated to the WatchFrame. The QuestFrame is the one that's used by the quest giver to display the quest when you first pick it up and/or turn it in and is also unrelated to the WatchFrame.

If you update to the 5.03.02, as mentioned, the problem should already be fixed and none of these changes should be needed.
