Good day devs,

I have experienced a LUA error with your addon today as detailed below. Up until the patch it was performing exceptionally well. I have fixed *quite a few problems* with a find and replace on some bits of code detailed in the op here. Credit does indeed go to adderall for this fix. However, this particular error persists.

You edit the file with notepad.

Or if you'd like I've uploaded a copy of modified carbonite.lua

I tried it and it does work - but it is a little blinky when you have the minimap integration turned on but it is a lot better then having to use the standard UI map...

I did get a few errors:

Perhaps with some more tweeking it can be as good as new again!

But still the quick fix is pretty good (for now).

Please in the future press the Code button, it's the one with # symbol, then paste your error, it will place it in a scrollable box.

Sorry, I did not realize that you were the forum police - but I did as you asked and I appreciate the help with the quick fix - but there is no need for you to be rude in your posts in here or in other threads.

I wasn't meant to be rude at all, but more informative and helpful. If you took at as such, that's on you for reading it that way.

Talking Possible temp fix for the 'band' errors

I think I might have fixed the problem (at least it seems to be working for me), with some hints for fixes for other addons that use the combat log.

Essentially the problem stems from a change to COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTER where blizzard added a new parameter in the middle of the API. With this new parameter, the wrong values are set to variables in carbonite and then generate this error.

There are 2 places you need to make a modification

First is line 11023 (or so) (This should fix the error generated on line 11027
replace
Code:
local time,cEv,sId,sNa,sFl,dId,dNa,dFl,a1,a2,a3,a4=select(1,...)
with
Code:
local time,cEv,hideCaster,sId,sNa,sFl,dId,dNa,dFl,a1,a2,a3,a4=select(1,...)
and a similar fix around line 11806 (which fixes the error generated on line 11808)
replace
Code:
local sNa,sFl,dId,dNa,dFl=select(4,...)
with
Code:
local hideCaster,sNa,sFl,dId,dNa,dFl=select(4,...)
NOTE: This temp fix is not ideal (since we're using a local variable instead of just ignoring the param we're not using, but it should be ok for now.

Good luck

Should we apply both fixes?

Sorry to be dense, do we apply both LUA fixes suggested in this thread?

The first fix is not working for me....all I get is an unclickable Carbonite "C" on the minimap and nothing else, and I used the pre-fixed .lua direct link.

Was there any other folder I was supposed to put it in or just AddOns/Carbonite?

Yes. Each fix is for a different error.

Your not the only one.

I did the replacement of the code lines as noted in the op. I have also done replacements as what was suggested by EvilJookie and i still get about 50 - 300 pages of errors just from using a few spells or abilities in the game.

Posted this on other Temporary Solution thread:

Found a solution to another one of the error messages:

Change line 11022 in Carbonite.lua from

local time,cEv,sId,sNa,sFl,dId,dNa,dFl,a1,a2,a3,a4=select(1,...)

to

local time,cEv,hcaster,sId,sNa,sFl,dId,dNa,dFl,a1,a2,a3,a4=select(1,...)

Also change line 11806 in Carbonite.lua from

local sNa,sFl,dId,dNa,dFl=select(4,...)

to

local sNa,sFl,dId,dNa,dFl=select(5,...)

And it seems to fix all problems like stated above.

That did it for me. I'm able to do every ability/skill i have available to my character now. Only problem is the blinking icons. But that is not a bother to me.

EDIT: I started to walk around with my settings and it started to glitch up on me. I saw the rest of the forum and noticed that the bugs im seeing are already being noted. Ill be waiting for the update tonight cause i have to have carb cause im wondering around horde territories being human. Ive been marking off where to go and where not to go for future reference.
