how to update an ui to work with current patch?

Had a question

Friends and I use a UI that stopped working with this patch and the person who makes it has moved on to a newer version we do not like as much. How hard is it to get the UI to start working with this new patch? Can it be done and is it a simple walk through someone can walk me through?

Well, that's really hard to say without any information.
"a UI that stopped working with this patch" could be anything.

In that case, you'll need to know enough Lua to fix any errors being thrown or wait for Goldpaw to release the gUI3 theme for gUI4.

If you need help with specific errors, you can ask in the Lua/XML Help forum; but you're not likely to get someone willing to fix every single error for you.

gUI is All Rights Reserved, so nobody can distribute modified versions of it without Goldpaw's permission.

Lua is a fairly simple language to learn the basics of, but gUI's code may be fairly complex in some places.
