Editor Xml Ignore Area Tag

Is there a way to mark a section of the xml for the editor to ignore? Currently if i want to use something such as
<LootButton name="LootButton1" inherits="LootButtonTemplate" id="1">
i would have to manually add it but no longer be able to use the editor

Is there a way we could have a <!--< Tag >--> that would tell the editor to ignore any xml between the tags?
