You can run the .blp through BLPToPNG Converter and then to .tga using Gimp or some other graphics package.

http://wowwiki.wikia.com/Crests - Go to this page and save each crest that you want. The crests will be saved in png format. Open your preferred graphic editing program and alter their size to blizzard's requirements (if needed).

If you must have them in tga format like Fizzlemizz said you can use Gimp or your preferred graphic editing program to do it.

If you just want to be able to use the images within an addon then use the BLPtoPNG converter to create a blp version. All this requires you to do after you've altered the png is to drag & drop the png file onto the BLPtoPNG converter .exe and it will create a blp copy.

Thanks for the replies Fizz and Tim,

however I am running on a mac.
saved the icons from your link Tim, totally perfect-

Have just installed gimp, but its a little overwhelming for me. Could someone point me in the direction of the changing file type part of the program? Googling tutorials right now...

It should either be File.. Export, or File.. Save As. Might be on another drop down menu, but you are looking for Export.

From there, select the image type you want. Gimp converts images into WoW-ready format without additional settings (and there are additional settings, but you don't need to use them).

With Gimp, File/Save As. Then just change the file extension to .tga and it will auto-convert after asking about compression (just use the default).
