so I am kinda new to both WoW and Carbonite and I have a question...what the hello are punks?

Players of your opposing faction. IE: If your character is Horde, then "Punks" are Alliance players.

I highly suggest that you go to your "Path to your WoW folder\Interface\AddOns\Carbonite\" folder and read through the "CarboniteReadMe" plain text file that you'll find there. It will explain a lot about what Carbonite does and how to set it up.
