I think I'm going to update my current layout first. Then play around some more with that layout. I haven't been playing WoW, so it might be a while.

I asked Nib nicely, if he minded implementing it ^^

Well you need to go into the /config, which is Lua based. But Nib is really great at making things easy even for people who can't or do not know how to use it

Download it, read the instructions and there ya go.

EDIT: New name plates with cast bars

1st Image: Enemy NPC casting~
2nd Image: Enemy/Friend Player Casting~

EDIT: 3rd Image: Combat Text over your target.

Sadly I cannot figure out how to put combat text over your nontargets [the color of the text depends on the type of spell/damage].
The blue glow means you have threat, but are not tanking/close to pulling aggro.

Plan to add combat text above them later and maybe CC icons/timers ;D

Player and Raid frames will be soon too~ They are mainly done right now, but some icons on the minimap need to be moved (cause it's ugly). Haven't worked on them yet.

Lovely UI, however the chat frame needs some help. The vertical spacing is too large and the positioning of the chat frame itself I think could be changed as well.

The chat frame is probably going to be one of the last things changed, I'll see about the V spaceing, and the position? Tried to get the bottom of the chat aligned with the bottom bars :< ill see lol

EDIT: oh, you're looking at a slightly older version. Slightly better I think now, though still a lot of work

Also added CC onto the name plates~

Trying something a little different. Everything placed in what seems a 'random' place with not that much symmetry or alignment.

Any comments&criticism?

As a lover of 'symmetry and alignment', I can't help but be slightly confused xD

You're both just evil!
I admit the buffs/minimap and chat are a bit awkward. I did literally just type in random co-ordinates for those and I didn't really like it myself.

Here it is with a little bit of alignment

But still, it really has no use to not be aligned right?

No not really, I just thought I'd try it to see what it's like.
That first picture was just sheer randomness and a bit over the top but I think if it's done right not aligning certain frames could work quite well.

Everything that is on the name plates, is aloft, using the 8x8px Solid Border from NibPD, edgefile:1px insets:1

Asymmetry is actually very useful in a UI. It will help you distinguish each different element more clearly than you may think. Job well done Carebear.

By standing out, yes it does become more apparent. I never said it was a bad UI :P just that when things are not symmetrical, I get confused and things bug me ><

EDIT: Party Frames~ Ignore the DPS chart. Haven't messed with that yet. Also going to be putting Aggro colors around party frames soonish tonight.

Well, if you have a minute to upload a 'beta' version I'd be happy as heck. That UI is very appealing to me.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure what to make of your UI. I get the feeling you're going for a minimal approach but at the same time I'm not.

Unimportant elements that should be small are too big/prominent (buffs, chat frame, the tooltip containing too much information placed in the middle of the screen, minimap full of buttons), the info text is scattered all over the place for the sake of being symmetrical when it would be much easier to group it all in one place (also, why are you using the durability dummy when you could add an info text for that?).

As for the party frames, well, they look nice, but not very functional. If you're gonna take up 30 pixels' worth of space for a panel showcasing their names then why make the actual health bar, which is the most important, only 5 pixels tall?

There's definite room for improvement in terms of efficiency of layout, but personal preference also enters there.

The Party frames' health bars are actually the darkish areas (similar to the Player and Target frames), and the mana bars are the small bars (taking a guess).
