Ive used both and ended going with smm simply for the advanced customization. Rico is an excellent mod if your looking for something straightforward. I was looking for more options since i fiddle with my ui alot and it suited me needs more accurately. That is the sole reason i went with smm.

and yes i would choose simpleminimap over squeenix. Its just more customizable imho. smm does give you the map. Just right click on the map to bring up the options or if you use deucecommander you can do it that way
Would I be able to use MetaMap with smm?

I think you're doing good, yea. Change the minimap skin to "thin black" IMO, it will suit the rest of the UI

Yes, Metamap is in control of the world map, SMM is in control of the minimap

this is a pic from today's raid, so it's the most recent state of the ui. didn't use the dezer comp, just kept tuning the stuff i already had together

think that almost everything can be seen there, only my (totemus) totem timers are missing above my unit frame, lost them before the fight started and can't get them back now

clearFont2 + clearFont2 fontpack - fonts
ct_core - for moving the tooltip archor, mouse wheel chat scrolling, not sure if that's all
cyCircled + cyCircled onyx skin - action button style
bartender3 - action bars
drDamage - spell values under the buttons
eePanels2 - border/panels around the action bars, unitframes and beneath fubar
elkano's buff bars - buffs and debuffs in the upper corners
fubar + some plugins (bagFu, clockFu, moneyFu, DuraTek, expirienceFu, microMenuFu, volumeFu)
grid - raid frame units between threatmeter and map
LoadIt - loading mods on the fly
MobInfo2
NaturEnemyCastBar - bars between chat and spells
Omen - threatmeter (think that i'll have to switch with KTM cause my guild uses that)
ScrollingCombatText(+SCTDamage) - uses my warlock setup, think it will need some adjusting for enhc shammy and mage that are my mains
SimpleMiniMap - will see if it'll stay or gonna switch it for the other mod suggested on the 1st page
Skinner - big bottom gray bar + pretty much everything else (chat, tooltip and all windows that appear)
SW_Stats - damage meter on the right
DeadlyBossMod - not shown in the picture, but the bars are above the NECB
elkano's buff bars - buffs and debuffs in the upper corners

just removed text and stuff in the options

Gotta say, i like the looks of this ui, but its a shame he doesnt show the memory usage there. It may not be of importance for him, but it would be fun to see how much he has seeing as he's using alot of high maintenance mods.

got loads of mods running in the background, like critline, auctioneer, atlas, atlas loot, advanced tradeskill window... it does take a lot of memory, but i don't mind since i got 4gb to spare. will try to use only the visible ones and report on the usage then if you guys are interested

nah... I don't understand why a few people complain about Quartz. It's really not hard.

i'd just like some test bar to show while i'm changing the settings, not just guess and then start casting to see what it did... especially for the accompanying little bars left and right

it's not hard, just anoying

Unlock it and you'll get a dummy bar/anchor.

Well for u thats good, for me 61mb wouldnt even let me log into the game
Got 1gb but if i go over 35mb its horrible to raid. Atm my own ui (search for my name and have a look if u want) uses at best 31mb and thats if i leave the garbage collection button alone for a long time. average on about 28mb which im fairly pleased with. Still streamlining it alot while keeping some of the eyecandy like urs ^^
average solo usage is 23-25mb'ish
