BloodyScreen

There was a cool AddOn, called BloodyScreen http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/4401/ , that would splash blood across your screen whenever you would crit in combat (it looked somewhat like Gears of War style blood). Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated since late '06, and it hasn't worked in a while. I know nothing of coding, so I wouldn't know if it would be hard to update? I think it is a pretty cool AddOn, one of the few that just make the game more fun, rather than crowding your screen with more numbers and stats. If anyone would be able to fix this for current WoW patches, or tell me how to (be prepared to walk me step by step if you do, I have NO experience with .lua and stuff), it would be really cool, as the old author has abandoned it completely (as far as I can tell).

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me, have a good night.

Oh sorry, I'm not quite sure why it would be against the ToS, can you explain why? I see AddOns taken over by new authors all the time... and I didn't mean to step over any boundaries, my apologies if I asked something I shouldn't have.

And if this isn't possible, could someone make an AddOn similar? As I said before, I know nothing of coding, but basically, (as far as I could tell) he Photoshopped about 15-20 semi transparent blood splatters, then made them appear upon a crit over your UI, with up to 5 splatters (the extra 10-15 meant that the splatters would have a different assortment each time), and then he made them scalable and such...

Thanks in advance for any replies.

No it's not against the ToS. They're not in the 3d world, they're just textures that show up on your screen. Dreadlorde had it in one of his latest screenshots, but I'm not sure which addon he uses for it...

Cool, thanks, that is definitely BloodyScreen (or something extremely similar). I'll ask on that thread what AddOn he is using for that. Thanks for finding that.

EDIT: I sent him a private message, hopefully he'll get back to me soon. Once again, thanks for the link.

That's pretty cool.. is it a random pattern of blood splatter with each crit or the same one each time?

It would be hard to do that (unless you want to stick blood textures together randomly).

Sort of... it has several pre-made blood splatters, but each crit generates a random one, so that you don't see the same assortment of splatters each fight.

No problem, I probably didn't clarify enough that it was on the 2D UI and not in the actual 3D world.

Hmmm, not to be impatient, but does anyone know if Dreadlorde is very active and gets on alot, or if he is someone that just posts at random? (I have yet to get a reply.)

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, BTW. <(-_-)>

He checks here pretty regularly afaik. He spends time at wowace (and I think Curse) also. I'm sure he'll hook you up with the info when he gets your PM.

EDIT: w00t. 500th post.

I'll try to get it updated when I can get my wireless router to work again.

Yeah. That's what I meant when I originally asked, I knew it wouldn't create a new model randomly with each crit. That would be unbelievable.

That's cool though, I'll check it out.

Has anyone had any luck getting BloodyScreen to work with 2.4 yet? It's been about a week since my original post. I've been looking around, I still haven't found an updated version myself, or a decent replacement for it either.

The most recent one I could find (with a rather short Google search, skimmed through 2-3 sites and read some results) was BloodyScreen v2.0004 which was for 2.0.0. Back in December '06, I'm not sure if there is any more recent release but it's not looking too promising.

If there's no copyright on it though I'm sure someone could edit it and make a version that would work for 2.4. Especially since the most recent release was in 2006.
