The shadows I like, gives the impression that the UI elements are "floating" over the game world, gives the whole UI more depth and it's a refreshing change from 1 pixel borders. What I don't like are the unit frames. Too thin for my tastes and I don't like huge pixel fonts. IMO pixel fonts were made to be used small.

Here is my UI made some new things enjoy.

What's new? Chat Tabs, (can be with classcolor backdrops) classcolor on fps/ms and castbar (player with both bar and backdrop)

Align the "92"ms with the name or better yet, have it infront of the name.
Align debuffs with the bottom of the minimap.
Buffs on player/party frames are not aligned properly.
Spam is with 1 m :P

hmm I'll think about the whole non pixel font thingy. I'm quite addicted to pixelfonts to be honest. I really like the pixelfont I'm using now as it doesn't look like the average pixelfont imo. Especially numbers (and bigger sized numbers) still look relatively 'normal'.

I'm still trying to find the perfect "pixel" font like semplice regular and supernatural1001 but with all the extra letters/signs and a normal spacing.

I finally found it! All round decent pixel-ish font but easily readable.
Ok spacing, and includes all the special signs and letters that wow uses and more. Everything is also placed correctly. ;D

Only had to browse through 350 fonts on dafont and test like 30 of em ingame :P and also opening each one with fontcreator to check for stuff.

Sorry to ask a silly question, but how does one go about changing the chat font?

I would really like to make it match the rest of my UI. Is it lua somewhere?

You just add a Fonts folder to your WoW folder. You have to rename your custom fonts to these special names, I can't think of them right now. Then in game, all fonts you replaced will be changed.

or if your using some kind of chat addon (IE:chatter) there will be a option that allows you to change it in the interface config.

I tried a few different ones and prat worked well, thanks for the tip...

OK, Well after weeks and who knows how many fonts, I finally found a really nice one that I like on the entire UI. However, for it to display non-distorted on the chat pane, I had to make it really small. I can read it but I am not sure how well it flows with the rest of the UI. I dont really think that one place with a different size font is that big of a deal..

What do you guys think??

its a nice font but my eyes are bad you probably wont find a person with worse eyes then me unless there legally blind i would need to increase the size on it or change it to arial narrow at a font size of 15 so i dont need to squint.

is the font I use in my UIs for a while now. Just throwing that out there. I use it at 10 so it doesnt seem to follow the normal size 8 thing and for me anyways, on my reso, it totally screws up at anything over size 10. I play on a 19" 1440x900 if that helps anyone

That's because pixelate is supposed to be used @10.

Not all pixel fonts are used @8, some even use 13, 16, ... 19, ...

First Cataclysm Beta UI shot



Hmmm...sth changed on the actionbars. But most of the stuff is working. And no Lua Error except the Blizzard Feedback UI on the German client.

Strange, action button skins work fine for me. That bonus bar texture pops up for me too though, not sure what they did with that.
