Quest Helper problem????

I have Quest Helper installed (correctly) and updated...here is the question that is driving me crazy: It is in regard to the QUEST HELPER ICON in the upper right hand corner of the WORLD MAP SCREEN. A few days ago I signed on and it was not there anymore! I have done everything I know to do to try to figure it out...but I'm getting nowhere. I have uninstalled/reinstalled it....typed in every /qh command I can think of (the only thing that comes up when I do this is the Quest History panel)....nothing. (Nothing is showing on my map and I cannot get to the option to show it because the icon is gone.) The strange thing is...when we open up my daughter's account on this same computer....the icon is there...it works perfectly...just not on my ACCOUNT...it's not the computer. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?...HELP?...KNOW THE ANSWER??? If you do...thanks in advance...this is driving me crazy and slowing down everything so much!

At the character select screen, click the addons tab, then disable and then re-enable QH. It may have been turned off accidentally for your character.

Hope this helps.

I've tried that about a hundred times! Everywhere that you can install/apply/update...I have done it...still no icon. I guess I was hoping that someone would know a magic code to type in to make it reappear. Thank you for the idea though!

does /qh help cause anything to appear? If not, QH is not loaded, possible reasons for this include:
1.) It is not properly installed
2.) It is disabled for that character via the addons button in the character select screen
3.) It is throwing a fatal error when it loads which is being hidden by something else (e.x. Bugsack).

If it does respond when you type /qh help, then use /qh button to get your map button back.

Past that I have only one suggestion:

In the addon menu (on the character selection screen), is the checkmark next to QH yellow or gray? If it's yellow, then it's enabled for all characters. If it's gray, it's only enabled for some characters. In order to turn it back on for a character, select that character's name in the dropdown menu in the upper left and turn on QH. To enable it for everyone, click the gray checkmark to disable QH for all then click it again to enable it for all (it will be yellow).

edit: in short, you need only to re-enable it for those characters.

The ONLY other thing I could think of that could be possible, IF you have done what has already been suggested, would be to delete saved variables in wtf folder relating to QH, for each character. I'm not even certain it creates SV for each character, but it's all that's left to try, per your description.

This is a bit extreme, but I would hope it should work.

1.) In the world of warcraft directory, delete the Cache, WTF, and Interface folders (may want to back them up first). This returns WoW to its original configuration. You will lose ALL your addon settings, key binding, etc.
2.) Log all the way into WoW. This recreates all of those folders.
3.) Reinstall your addons into the Interface folder.

Best of luck!

Unhappy QuestHelper has broken

Hello,

this is my first visit and question in this forum, so I hope, that everyting will be ok. On the second hand my english is since I left evening school not more good und fluently. So I hope that you forgive me any mistake or failure.
Like I wrote this in the heading line I've got some problems by using quest helper since the last patch 3.1 yesterday came out.
I've installed this patch with the automaticly update-program and after this program is finished I started WOW as usual. Everything seems to be ok, but when the first screen had be opened it occours the erros-message:
"QuestHelper has broken. You may have to restart WOW. Type "qh error" for a detailed error-message".

Cause I did't any other problem-solve, I done it this way. After this I received the following messagea little bit great)

Your error message says that you have an error with 1 library in MobMap. QH uses Astrolabe, too. Since MobMap loads first (including Astrolabe), QH will not work as well. Try to disable MobMap an try QH again.
To get reliable error reports disable all addons beside QH, BugSack, and BugGrabber (if you use another addon for error reports replace BugSack and BugGrabber with this. Or get BugSack and BugGrabber).

They don't need BugGrabber/BugSack because they have Swatter (which gave them the original stack trace).

Actually, QH currently grabs all uncaught errors, claiming them as it's own, which is why is has that QuestHelper is broken message at the top. It's also why we're getting spammed with people posting gatherer errors on the QH pages ;-)

Meh that's your opinion. Others have been using it for years and never had a problem ;-)
