Use a more verbose date format

The current date format is: mm-dd-yy. This is only commonly used in USA and Canada. It would be better to use a more verbose date format than this as the default one.

Using something like: 08 Sep, 2009 or Sep 02, 2009 would make a lot more sense for most people. Especially with the confusion current date format can create.

A short example of this would be: 06 June, 2009. It would currently be written as 06.09.09. This will be read by "most" people as 06 September, 2009. I say most because it's the date format used in a vast majority of countries.

A great example would be this thread.

I do have to admit, whenever I date documents, I write "8 September 2009" for this reason.

EDIT: However, I think vBulletin allows you to change the date format.

I would love the ability to choose from a few different date/time formats (some choices spelling out the month would be great) rather than just sticking to one convention. I recognise 8 Sept, 2009 much more easily than 09/08/2009, personally, and I'm sure there are others that would prefer different formats. I think I still make friends' heads asplode when I write 25/12/2009 for this year's Christmas date

Displaying time in 24hr notation would be a fantastic option as well, although that's less of an issue for me.

I always write 8 September 2009 as well. Absolutely no confusion that way. Sometimes I even include the day of the week as well: Tuesday, 8 September 2009.

Time isn't a problem at all imo (be it 24h or 12h format, it's clear what it is).
Date can sure be confusing. It's not a big deal if u know for sure what format is used, but still can be a problem...

Side note: Japanese rules - kanji for year/month/day instead of useless separators (like dots, slashes or whatever)

I'm unable to find it at least. I'm also thinking of a more international default.

both 12h and 24h are very clear. They can't really be confused, except from when people don't know which is which. That generally isn't an issue on forum tho', as most people only care about the actual date there.

There is no need to bump threads here. I read all threads in this forum. I don't always respond. Thank you for the feedback.
