There are some people who use it and like it that I have seen around here and there. But I don't use it for various reasons that I won't get into here.

Its interesting that when Cosmos was first introduced along with the first few addons, people really didnt care so much about keeping on top of updates. People now feel a necessity to have the latest bleeding edge version of addons, which puzzles me.

My advice, in order to avoid any nasty surprises with updaters, is that if something aint broke dont try and fix it .. and when something stops working by all means look for an update. But, if you are worried, might I suggest an updater that provides the full source code.

I use an updater, but it's the WoWI updater. The updates are only for TomTom, TourGuide, MetaHUD, Auctioneer and MikScrollingBattleText, since they're all still a bit "sickly" since 2.4. (Well, except for TourGuide. It seems to have pulled out of it. But it took a complete nose dive for a few days.)

So are they to be trusted or not? Your statement is more then vague . If you have "various reasons" that protect you from harm, then please share them with others so that they can make a solid decision. Where will you get into those reasons if not here, in a thread that is about WoWmatrix?

Since the WoWi updater doesn't feature all addons some people need (e.g. recount etc.) many are looking for an updater that can handle this MESS of, in many cases even far more, 200+ folders for 40+ addons most of us are running.

I am among the people that do run a ton of addons and an updater can save alot of time that I'd spend on sites otherwise. I do want to know what updater is doing it's job and nothing else.

wowmatrix has some advertisements, yeah, WoWi probably runs from supporters. Curse runs from advertisements aswell. I can't really say one is worse then the other - all I wan't is an updater that's safe and has all the addons.

Ok, and now on topic: I don't know about that matrix thing but the WoWI updater is great tool! I use it almost all the time but I also just download manually and at the same time I check comments/changelog etc from the addon. So just use the WoWI updater.

The WoWI Updater cross references your Favorites list here at WoWInterface and checks for any posted updates.

I tested WowMatrix after 2.4 (2 days ago) and it actually DOWNdated my addons. i Had already updated my 103 addons manually - and that thing destroyed them. Lucky I backed up.
