Help With Group Buttons

I've been using the groupbuttons UI for a while now and recently I
tried to make some adjustments to the button positions on my party
members. I would like to get my groupbuttons to appear under the
partymember frames like in this photo:

When I goto the set screen (using the /gb command) and I adjust the
position of the bars on the party frames with the sliders, if the
buttons are inside of the 'gray' frame box for the party members, when
I go back to my game from the set-up screen the group buttons appear in
the new position I placed them but I am now unable to click on any of
the buttons.

If I move them off of the gray playerframe area they click correctly. I
currently have to have the group buttons set up like this so I can
click them:

How do I set up so I can have the buttons underneath my group members
frames like in this screen?:

To me it seems if the buttons are inside of the gray playerframe in the
set up you cant click on them, but I know its possible because I have
seen many screens of people's Uis with the buttons undeneath the group
members' frames. Someone told me there is an option to turn off the 'gray area' around the player frame then the buttons will work correctly but I cant find this opion.

Could someone please post a walk-thru on how I could do this if its possible?

Thanks

EDIT:

I read this you can modify the file with this fix:

Some mods create invisible button frames that you can't click through to get to these buttons. The best thing for you to do is move the bars into a new position until you can click them. The alternative is modifying GB_Templates.xml and setting the bars to display above EVERYTHING (spellbook, questlog, bags, etc.). Here's how you do that: Open GB_Templates.xml in any text editor. Find this line:

<Frame name="GB_ActionBarTemplate" virtual="true" frameStrata="low" movable="true">

Change frameStrata="low" to frameStrata="high".

This works but now the buttons show up on top of my quest log which I kind of dont really like. Is there another fix for this?

I've read that I can use Discord frames, but I'm not really good at setting up UIs and it seems kinda complicated...

Those gray boxes are GB's Clickboxes. Go to Misc Options to adjust thier size until they no longer cover the bars. Or click the Hide Clickboxes button if you don't need click-casting.

Thanks I'll try it out tonight. (cant do it now I'm at work =p)

Another thing that I noticed is when I dont have group buttons active I can mouse over any buff icons attached to my party members' player frame and I will get a tool tip telling me what that buff/debuff is, but when I have GB active this feature no longer works.

Is there a way to get these tool tips to work again when group buttons is active?
