Sooo, I have decided to try switching my CD management to a cooldown bar. So far, I like it! Now, I just a have to get used to it xD Comments?

My CD bar (if I can't remember the keybind, lol) is almost hidden at the very bottom.

Newest screenshots... Haven't converted grid to match unit frames yet. Grid will end up looking like the pet/tot frames.

When I'm done I plan on having the arrows under the health bars showing procs on player frame and debuffs/combo points on target frame

Starting again from scratch. Still lacking just about everything, but I'm still undecided on what to use for unitframes, or tooltips.

Alright, here's what I got jumping onto the transparent unit frame bandwagon

First shot has battlefield minimap up; I use it a lot for gathering/exploring, but I'll probably turn it off if I'm just questing. Second gives an idea of what it looks like in raid, and third is... well possibly a very silly idea, lol. It's been working out for me so far; I could never use it in a raid or any situation where I actually care about the names and exact percentages, but for mass random battlegrounds I think I like it. And the action bar in the corner was made visible primarily for alt-leveling purposes.

I'm undecided if I should add more of the gradient panels around things (like the friends/guild brokers at the top).

Wow, that's just gorgeous. Simple and lovely... except I dislike pixel fonts a LOT. XD

I agree with zork, pixel fonts and art don't really mix. Looks good otherwise.

Yeah, like I said It was just fun at first, quickly thrown together. Didn't expect it to work so well. Guess I need to make an interface out of it, at least replace font and borders (buttons, minimap, ...).

Scrapped the old concept for a new bar-only idea. The top blue bars each represent 10%, so once your target hits 90% one bar goes away. The bottom orange bars represent 1% and will deplete faster, kind of like the hour and minute hands on a clock.

Like 91-100% = 10 top bars, 99 % = 9 bottom bars, 98 = 8 bottom bars, etc

until 90 % = 9 top bars and again 10 bottom bars?

Tenub, this is really cool... Would be too modern for me, but could turn out really great in term of functionality!

Unkn: This looks amazing, though I think that something is not fitting... The size of this really cool unitframes doesn't fit to the very small buttons...


Here's a little update to my steampunk-idea. Dawn suggested to add some textures, and since I wanted some grungy look, this is what has come out:



I don't know if I want this steampunk-copper / -tin-look. Me likes the grey.
Will try that tomorrow. Rust is on my list, too.

What do you think?

I was kind of stupid when I wrote that. Once the health hits below 100% a top bar will disappear, ie. 92% would be 9 top bars and 2 bottom bars. 89% would be 8 top bars and 9 bottom bars. It seems confusing at first but I think once I implement the idea that it would make more sense as I test the frames out more and more.

Edit: I really like the idea Mischback. From the graphics perspective it looks pretty cheesy/fake. However, as a concept and a first draft it's amazing. I might suggest tweaking the bevel in addition to adding the rust and more detail that you plan on doing. It really reminds me of one of my old favorite games by Bungie, Marathon:

Jw, how did you go around setting up the combo points/balance bar/holy power bar/shard bar with stuf?

At least use a font such as Unibody or Semplice, or at least bring the font you used for your chat text to your entire UI to make it more legible and more consistent. The 04b fonts are pretty hard to read and therefore not very good for use in a UI. I would only use them to display numbers if I was absolutely required to use such a font.
