Blizzard makes WoW wish virtual reality

Make-A-Wish and a willing company help a grade schooler become the first outsider to create a new character in World of Warcraft.

IRVINE – For World of Warcraft players hanging out in Shadowmoon Valley last Friday, bizarre events occurred that can only be explained by a small group of people inside the headquarters of Blizzard Entertainment.

At the helm of the strangeness sat 10-year-old Ezra Chatterton, who directed Warcraft's lead game designer Jeff Kaplan to blast ferocious-looking monsters, or "bosses," with a single death ray. Chatterton cleared the Black Temple for a European clan to fight the volcano-summoning Supremus.

All that power. Heh, heh.

"I'm impressed with Blizzard," said Chatterton from his wheelchair. "Bravo!"

Wow what a great story. Sad, but still very good. I can not wait to see his NPC in game.

Maybe you did not read the article fully or maybe you did ... either way you need to learn a little compassion. He is a little more than disabled. He has a brain tumor.

Just in case you decided not to read the article I will summarize it for you.

10-year-old Ezra Chatterton has a brain tumor. The diagnosis isn't good; metastatic cancer. He just started getting severe headaches that require him to be sedated so he can no longer feel the pain.

Ezra had a wish to help design a character in the game World Of Warcraft. Well thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation his wish came true.

He got to design a NPC character (Ahab Wheathoof, the Old Rancher) and his trusty sidekick Kyle The Dog (Based on his own real life pet) as well as designing a new weapon.

These characters as well as the weapon will be placed into the game in the near future (if not already there).

WoW was not only something he played to kill time it is also a game that he plays alongside his father.

So before you belittle a 10 year old child who is seriously ill, read the article before saying any dumbass comments.

I agree with Sepioth. It's comments like that which made me stop going to the Blizz forums.

For the people who said big deal and whatnot.

Might wanna read the whole article to what the kid actually got in total, its quiet badass.

He got to be a GM yes but, he also got instant level 70 from 63, fully equiped with top notch armor, massive amounts of gold, and a unique customized crossbow that he only would be able to use.

I hope some 10 year old kid with cancer / brain tumor owns your ass in arena ^_^.

You know that thing called compassion...get some

10 years old and his life will be cut short by cancer. How long, they can't say.

With Make a Wish, he got to fulfil a dream.
Be happy for him.

You are a dick. The kid has a brain tumor. You could at least show SOME compassion.

That's cool though they did that for the kid.

nice when big companies do things like this

nothing to them, but means a great deal for the kid, and it will give his parents and family a nice memory of him smiling from ear to ear to remember him by.

And everytime one of us passes that npc, we'll remember that poor kid, and spare a thought for what his family must be going through, but we'll remember that that npc, is that kids dream come true.

Cheers to Blizz!

This apparently is his character. Fully decked out in Epics. They weren't lying about giving him new gear.
