Question UI copy to a ALT

Hello,

So this week i wanted to finally do it and download a complete UI from this site.
i choose for Towellie's tanking LUI
http://www.wowinterface.com/download...-5.0.5MoP.html

All great and fun, but after 3-4 hours i finally got it set up perfect for my PC.
Now the problem is i can't play on any alt because i would get weird like KG panels stuck in the button bars.
( i did disable all addons for alts)
so i decided to use my main UI for all alts.

but that's the problem, i tried just copy/paste the character specific WTF folder, it did not worked

So i just want to know how i can exactly copy/paste my main character UI to other characters.
(can't be that hard since all UI's uploaded here, are used by other people, so i figured for ALTS it should be easy.)
Any tips or links to other threads would be much appreciated.

I would like to thank in advance.

Sincerely,

Wacky

The problem is the profiles--most Addons (I say most) use a profile save method where they attribute a setting to a character. Simply copying your character folder and renaming it to your alt does not help.

The only recommendation I can tell you is to see if Reflux is included; or go into each addon manually and make sure in the "Profiles" option; they are the same choice that your main has.

I don't know how that UI you use it setup; but I can tell you for my UI, every addon that can save a profile is named "CalaiUI" so that it's easy for folks to setup their alts.

TheGeek,

Thanks for some additional information

Towellie indeed used reflux.
this allowed me to copy my main char setting into a ALT
only thing is to switch the setting of addons according to class.

yes yes,

the creator of this UI already used reflux.

so i just looked up the command of reflux on google and was able to create the exact UI for my alt.

/reflux snapshot Taink

Taink is my alt.. so now i copied the exact UI currently on my screen into a profile now named Taink..
So i just logged in to my alt.
/reflux switch Taink

and there you go, the exact same UI as my main.. but now on my alt
only thing left is to tweak it.
not saying ALL addons setting got copied but those are minor fixes(for me).
the most important thing was the placement of my unit frames and the LUI frames.

I think the creator has a larger screen, because on my screen everything was really tiny.
so if u enlarge u accidently bump into other area's like your action bars etc..
so then you have to drag a bit and play alot to have the final settings just right.

but i would not have known of Reflux, if you did not tell me.
so Thanks again

now my next concern is the blizzard action bars that popup in dungeons..
for like the stormstout brewery, a counter is shown 0/40 for slain monkeys.
or last boss of shadowpan monastery a rage bar is shown.
and they are right behind my actionbar
tried MoveAnything, but it seems the creator removed the Move part.. you have to click like 1000 times on a little pad with arrows.
maybe you know a answer to this question also ???

That's the PlayerPowerBarAlt frame. You can move it by Alt-clicking and dragging with the BetterPowerBarAlt addon.

Well, it's not a problem in the default UI. It's only a problem when you move some addon frames to the same place on the screen where the button is, without moving the button. The same thing would happen if you moved something over the top of your minimap, but didn't move the minimap -- you wouldn't be able to see the minimap. Also, if you search this site for "power bar" that addon is the #2 result, so it's not really hard to find if you need it.

If you're using a premade compilation, though, its uploader should really ensure that the extra action button is usable without you needing to go download a separate addon to move it. Have you told the compilation's uploader about the problem?
