*cough*

My solution to the issue with ToolTipsBase was to disable it ... Recipe Book is much more important to me hehe..

What were you using TooltipsBase for? Just relocation/colour background?

Yes

(How ridiculous, board software won't let you post less than 10 characters...)

Long time ago, I started using Skeeve's SimpleTip from Curse.
Skeeve quit updating SimpleTip back in February, but I liked it and haven't found anything quite as simple. Did some fiddling with it to keep compatibility, but it's a relatively simple - sets anchor, colours background by friendly/neutral/hostile, and adds in the guild text.
If you haven't found anything else, I could pass my heavily modified version along.

Spam prevention. It gets annoying occasionally, but usuaully most messages are over 10 characters

Eek!

/em ducks back under the Admin radar

SimpleTip could be fun, smoeone should post it to the board for everyone to use

Rogue didn't quite make 40 yesterday, but should easily make it today if the servers ever come back up.

Let me tidy it up and give credit where credit is due, and I'll see about that.

Need to playtest for stability once servers come back up - look for a new version of RecipeBook once I've done that, and let me know whether the new /rb specials option does what it advertises

SimpleTip redux : http://www.wowinterface.com/download...php?s=&id=4030
RecipeBook is currently looking decent and not blowing up, but I want to run it by the other player here to see how it looks to him before uploading.

All right...
As soon as the admins OK it, download the updated RecipeBook (0.5) and run with it.
/rb specials to scan your specializations and *please* let me know how it goes.

Am I interpreting this correctly that you attatched the update to your post, but approval by board admins is required before attatchment become visible?

Yes, I know, I could just wait and find out .....

I would like to begin my review by suggesting to anyone else who wants to assist in testing that they test all the options. In particular, if you have output set to the tooltip you may not see all of the information that's going on "behind the scenes". I found it extremely helpful to change the output to the chatframe so I could see messages like "Green Dragonscale Breastplate has no alts who only need skillups to learn it." I'm particularly fond of verbose text in this type of situation and I agree with the idea of only "spamming" the chatframe, not the tooltip.

Went through and did the "/rb specials" for Tribal, Elemental, Dragonscale, Armorsmith, and Weaponsmith, then logged on an AH mule and browsed recipes in the AH.

non-specialized leatherworking patterns
  • Identified patterns I could learn now (both chatframe and tooptip)
  • Identified patterns I could learn in the future (both chatframe and tooptip)

Dragonscale Leatherworking -- Nuktu (249)
  • Identified specialization correctly
  • Did not identify patterns I could learn in the future (Black Dragonscale Breastplate (290))

Tribal Leatherworking -- Burrbat (268(
  • Identified specialization correctly
  • Did not identify patterns I could learn in the future (Warbear Woolies (285), Devilsaur Gauntlets (290))

Elemental Leatherworking -- Konstantin (230)
  • Identified specialization correctly
  • Did not identify patterns I could learn in the future (Livig Shoulders (270)

Armorsmith -- Wombat (261)
  • Identified specialization correctly
  • Did not identify patterns I could learn in the future (Dark Iron Plate (285), Wildthorn Mail (270)

Weaponsmith -- Burrbat (221)
  • Identified specialization correctly

Unfortunately I didn't see any recipes that my alts were currently qualified to learn, but it would appear that somehow it's not matching the speicializations since "future" works on regular patterns but not on specialized patterns o.O

By the by .... I take it that saved variables are tied to the speific account?

My dragonscale leatherworker is on a different account than all the others, and he never shows in the listing of knowing or able to learn recipes :\

Ok, answered my own question -- it is.

Pertinent SavedVariables for RecipeBook:

Code:
RecipeBookData = {
	["Version"] = "1",
	["Silvermoon"] = {
		["Alliance"] = {
			["Personal"] = {
				["Konstantin"] = {
					["Options"] = {
						["WillLearn"] = "On",
						["Status"] = "On",
						["AltFaction"] = "Both",
						["CanLearn"] = "On",
						["Output"] = "Tooltip",
					},
					["Leatherworking"] = {
						(laundry list of known recipes deleted)
						["Specialty"] = "Elemental Leatherworking",
						["Rank"] = 230,
					},
				},
				["Burrbat"] = {
					["Blacksmithing"] = {
						["Rank"] = 221,
					},
					["Leatherworking"] = {
						["Rank"] = 268,
					},
				},
				["Wombat"] = {
					["Blacksmithing"] = {
						["Rank"] = 261,
						["Specialty"] = "Armorsmith",
					},
				},
			},
			["Shared"] = {
			},
		},
	},
}
So it looks like it's possible that ol' Burrbat confused things by having 2 specializations -- "/rb specials" displays on the screen that he knows both Weaponsmith and Tribal Leatherworking, but it doesn't appear to be saved...?

Thinking about it, multiple specialties per character will be required to support "master swordsmith", etc, since those also require the "weaponsmith" specialty.

It's *supposed* to be set up to support up to 2 specializations per-character, per-tradeskill, to make the whole weaponsmith/Master blahsmith work right.

Obviously, something is going fuzzy.

Hmm

I was just playing Konstantin (elemental leatherworker) and thought I'd try once more to see if Burrbat's (tribal) specialization were saved.

I camped Konstantin and logged on ol' Burrbat and did a "/rb specials", then camped and exited.

Looking at SavedVariables, now Konstantin only shows 11 known Leatherworking recipes and no specialty, while Burrbat shows 73 Blacksmithing recipes and the Weaponsmith specialty, as well as Leatherworking, 88 LW recipes, and the Tribal Leatherworking specialty.

Wombat (BS) continues to show all of his Blacksmithing recipes and the Armorsmith specialty, but he hadn't been logged in this session.

Kon's list of 11 LW recipes seems to be the expected recipes under "Trade Goods" and the 3 known "Quivers" recipes, but no others.

It's very possible that these were the only sections of the tradeskill recipe list that were expanded the last time I had the tradeskill window open.
