Cartographer replace? Not Carbonite, plz.

Carbonite is nice for questing but I just don't it a suitable replacement for Cartographer (and yes I realize there's a fix for tomtom/lightheaded, I just don't like how they interact.)

I lost Metamap, now Carbonite... is there an alternative?

Thanks.

Mapster looks interesting. I see it mentioned WOTLK maps, does it support BC and Classic too?

Any idea if Gatherer works with it? I see GatherMate is recommeneded, I'm just curious.

Mapster + Handynotes + GatherMate

Mapster in a fairly configurable map replacement.

Handynotes replicates the icon notes cartographer places on the map (trainers, mailboxes, etc.) There are a number of additional modules you can download for Handynotes such as questgiver and things like that.

GatherMate is awesome for mining and treasure locations. It is also has a date pack which is updated weekly.

We need a damn sticky since this is asked so much. If you want to re-create much of the functionality of Cartographer, you'd need the following AddOns:

Mapster: Main map display
HandyNotes (and a selection of its plugins): Cartographer_Notes
Cromulent: Cartographer_ZoneInfo
GatherMate: Cartographer_POI
Routes: Cartographer_POI
TomTom: Cartographer_Waypoint

Yes, Gatherer works. It also has a bunch of unnecessary information, which equates to slightly higher memory usage (do you really need to know how many times you harvested this particular node, or the date you were last there?).

GatherMate works nearly identically to Gatherer, and is also better suited for use with Routes - Gatherer does not support a key mechanism which Routes requires.

Ok, I'll check out gathermate. I've used routes before and didn't realize it and gatherer weren't a happy pair. I give it a go.

Might sound stupid, but GatherMate2 is the version to use right? And _DB has all the node data?

Yah - GatherMate2 is the direct replacement (it was released only a few days ago)...Routes still needs work for 4.x compatibility.
