oUF and Classic

Since Classic is looming around the corner, we wanted to make a statement on oUF's support for it.

We have no intentions of supporting both versions of the game, mostly because there is no parity or forward/backwards compatibility between the two versions. Supporting both versions in the same code base would be borderline impossible, and maintaining parity ourselves between two versions of oUF would deem impractical.

As such, oUF will not support Classic, more specifically, the oUF team won't.

If someone (singular person or a team) wants to fork and maintain a version of oUF that is compatible with Classic, feel free to reach out to us.

- The oUF team

Very cool. Since oUF is MIT licensed everyone should be able to copy this code including Tukz changes (and keep including the license). Right?

Or are Tukz changes not MIT licensed in that case. I'm no lawyer...

Licenses

Maybe we could, in cooperation with Tukz, move his changes into a branch in the official oUF repo (or a separate repo in the organization) as a base for oUF for Classic and develop from there.

I'm going to try his changes in a fork today :-)

In review of the classic launch, the codebase was closer to the retail version of the game than we initially thought. oUF could support both versions of the game, however noone in the oUF team has any intentions of playing classic, and thus there won't be any support for it.

The reason I'm writing this is to avoid scaring off potential maintainers, as I probably did in the original posting.
If we had dedicated people maintaining a classic compatibility in oUF, that would be best.
