Cata beta was real buggy 2 patches ago, last patch fixed a lot and a lot of new content was added with the last 2. Some bugs on the ptr don't exist on the beta as well, and it's only 1 version behind. Blizz has said their internal build of ptr's/beta's is always several builds ahead of what is released.

Next build most likely has most of the bugs resolved. That is if people report them.

If next cata patch is as big as the last 2 and no major bugs gets introduced november still seems reasonable for a release. (Still 7 weeks to go till november)

To be honest, lich beta was a lot buggier then cata is imho, and was still bugged a week or so for release. Just like the major contents patches for lich king on the ptr, people experienced a lot of bugs, everybody thought it would take weeks for a release, and next patch its goes live, pretty much bug free.

That said, I wasn't expecting a ptr for another 2 weeks.

/edit; Boubouille seems to think release is the first week of nov.

I know. That's why I called it 4.0 ptr, not cata ptr ;-)

This ptr is mostly to get more feedback on talents and class changes/mechanics. Tho they tune almost everything for level 85, things must still be playable for 80's in the time it takes for cata to be released after patch 4.0.

A friend who works for Game Stop said in there last meeting Blizzard said Cata would be a Holiday Release .... D3 would be first ..... This was a Vid Conference with Blizz so we will see were it lands... I would rather wait till all the big bugs are fixed like the Enchanting trainers teaching engineeering, and some of the other not working at all .

Yes I'm in the beta, and no nUI does not work nor does it work on the PTR (which is the beta minus the new stuff).

once you get the "beta" alpha ready i will use it on PTR since NUI is currently as broken there as it is on the beta

Scott, we don't need to volunteer to test it on Cataclysm, do we? I just figured you'd send it out and say, "If you're in Cataclysm, I'd like you to try this and send me bug reports via the forum."

Yup... no need to volunteer... when I have the beta ready for the PTR, I'll post it and anyone who's on the nUI+ access group will be able to test it.

I thought they had the starting areas up? No? (I didn't try to roll a Worgen or a Goblin)

The gnome starting area needs the redone dun'morogh zone (changed a lot, even if looking at the map at fist might not give that away) as would the trolls starting zone require the new.

Tried the gnome, troll and undead starting zones, all still like live..

Nope, those are greyed out and when you mouse over them you get the "needs cata" popup.

I wouldn't expect any of this on the ptr 1 or 2 weeks before release if at all.

Yeah... I hadn't looked to see how much of Cata they were testing on the PTR. Looks like the PTR is pretty much a pure pre-Cata expansion push.

Yeah, this is pretty much a talent change patch so that people get the opportunity to figure out which of the classes they will want to work with when cata goes live once they've tried the new changes out on them ..

Hmm, now will my frost mage come out of retirement or my beast master hunter

Will I put my priest on retirement seeing as there are plenty in the guild already and concentrate on my warlock of which we don't seem to have as many of

choices choices.
