What is the fascination with pixelfonts?

If you have a giant monitor and can use a pixel font the way I've seen in some of the screenshots, I can see the appeal. The fonts are crisp and clear and you can have them set to smaller sizes to conserve the most screen real estate possible, while still having it be readable.

Personally, I really like WoW's default fonts (especially Friz Quadrata), and always use them when setting up new addons (like Quartz).

They're not all good. The very square pixel fonts are hard to read, simply because square letters are harder to read. I'm rather fond of 04B-03 (http://www.dsg4.com/04/extra/bitmap/), but only used sparingly.

I can't honestly say I can see the fascination for them in game, but as someone who use to do pixel art, they were just downright cool and had their uses.

No. That freeware font is copyrighted 1998, and CoD was released in October of 2003.
