Downloaded ready for 3.3 but lost nUI altogether!

Fairly new at this but have been running previous version with no problems. After following the instructions and extracting the update ready for 3.3 into the Interface addons folder I now have no nUI that works! When I check the Addons in WoW it says that nUI is out of date. Any suggestions to get it working again, other than going back to the previous version?

Are you sure you're extracting to the correct folder?

For Windows XP, that should be [ C: > Program Files > World of Warcraft > Interface > AddOns ]

For Windows 7 and Windows Vista that should be [ C: > Users > Public > Games > World of Warcraft > Interface > AddOns ]

You might try removing the nUI directory entirely and logging in to WoW... does it still show nUI in the addons list at the character selection screen? If it does, then you're working in the wrong directory.

Thx. Using Windows 7 and have 2 Interface folders in Addons. Have checked both and made sure that the nUI download is extracted to them both. Have realised in Addons before Toon selection that Load out of date addons not checked! Have checked box and it seems to work ok. Perhaps its a problem with WoW identifying nUI as being out of date. Thank you for your help

Mistake with Folders see below!

Two Interface folders in Addons? There should not be an Interface folder inside of your Addons folder. The directory structure should look like this:

World of Warcaft\Interface\Addons\nUI

My mistake. I actually have \Interface\Addons as well as \Interface.20091028-182155\Addons. Been a long day!! Both have a full complement of addons in the directories, and both have up to date download of nUI for Patch 3.3 The only thing that seems to have caused the problem is that WoW has identified it as an out of date addon and the box wasn't checked to allow the loading of out of date addons.

Is this a problem just with my installation or is WoW finding the UI as Out of Date in general?

As far as I can tell it has now been rectified and is working fine apart from key-bindings occasionally resetting. Again this could just be a quirk of my installation.

nUI 5.06.04 has the correct TOC version for patch 3.3 and should not be identified as out of date. Are you *sure* you downloaded the correct version? The download file should identify itself at nUI_5.06.04_{version}.zip and when you log into WoW is should tell you that 5.06.04 is loaded... if you're seeing a different version number, you have the wrong version of nUI.

That entire folder can be deleted. That folder was your original Interface folder until you ran the repair tool. The repair tool adds those numbers to the folder name. If you look closely you will see that you ran the repair tool on October 28th. In a nutshell, the repair tool made a backup of your Interface folder.

Do you also have a WTF folder with similar numbers? That can be deleted as well.

Is there a Mac version yet or will the new version work with both platforms?

I was having the same problem. I've narrowed it down to the cache AND the WTF folder.

With either of these folders installed, it's not allowing nUI to update. With either of those folders in place, it says nUI is out of date.

After checking off 'load out of date addons" and loading in, it remains at the 5.05.02 which I previously had installed and fully deleted before installing 5.06.04.

I removed the cache folder... same thing... I put it back in, and removed the WTF folder... same thing yet again.

I removed them both and it loads 5.06.04 correctly and does not show as being out of date. Now however, I need to go through and reset all my settings to my various addons.

Not sure what is causing this.

I'm running Win7

Scratch all that, it was still giving me problems.

If you're running Vista or Windows 7;

--Right click your launch icon (may need to right click second icon that appears if doing this from a launch icon shortcut on your desktop or taskbar)

--Go to properties

--Go to the Compatibility tab

--Check mark the 'Run this program as an administrator' box

Problem solved. lol

Yeah, this is a common problem if your wow folder isn't in a secure folder like Program Files or Users/Public etc.

Thank you, not sure if it has worked yet as still waiting for patch to download, but I vaguely remember having to run the Blizzard updater in XP as Administrator so that it would work properly. Perhaps this will sort it out, and hopefully I will be up and running with nUI again

Thanks for all your help, possibly the most useful and helpful forum on the net.
